Get Your Thai Tea Fix at Home with This Easy Recipe

awatdee Kha, my fellow Thai tea lovers! Today I'm going to show you how to make the most delicious Thai tea right from your own kitchen. One of the things I love about making Thai tea is that you can customize it to your liking. If you're looking for a dairy-free option, you can use soy milk, coconut milk, or almond milk. Just be aware that you may need to add more sugar to make up for the lack of sweetness that comes from the sweetened condensed milk.

The key to making the perfect Thai tea is in the ratio. You can use one to three tablespoons of tea per cup of water, depending on how strong you like it. I prefer to use less so I don't have to keep making trips to the store, but at this point, I should probably just buy in bulk!

Once you've made your tea, be sure to store it in the fridge before adding the sugar. And here's a pro tip: use a cloth tea filter or traditional tea sock to strain the tea because Thai tea has a lot of dust that gets through regular strainers. Trust me, it's worth it!

Now, for the fun part – mixing in the sugar and optional sweetened condensed milk. You'll want to make sure it's a little sweeter than you like because you're about to pour it over crushed ice, which will immediately melt and water down your tea.

Finally, add your evaporated milk, or non-dairy option, to make it both delicious AND aesthetically pleasing. And for my fellow klutzes out there, make sure to wear an apron because this stuff stains – it's orange because of yellow dye number six, so just watch where it goes and probably don't wear white.

I hope you enjoyed learning how to make Thai tea with me! Be sure to check out my YouTube video for a step-by-step tutorial and leave a comment letting me know how your tea turned out.
