Compost Dig and Turning // sustainability vlog

Today I turned my compost pile for the first time, and I'm feeling pretty darn accomplished about it. I have to admit, though, I'm not the best at follow-through when it comes to projects. But, with a little encouragement from myself, I finally got around to turning that compost pile.

Now, I know what you might be thinking - why didn't I ask my garden manager (aka my partner, Austin) for help? Well, the truth is, I didn't really need it. I actually volunteered for this task because I wanted to contribute something to the garden. And turning the compost pile was just the thing.

Now, I'm no expert when it comes to composting. In fact, there are billions of websites out there with tips and tricks on how to make the perfect compost pile. But, I'm happy to say that mine is definitely a work in progress. I mean, I only turn it once a month, which isn't exactly the ideal frequency. But, hey, it's a start!

If you're interested in composting, I'd love to hear from you. Let me know in the comments how you compost and where you're located. I know it can be tough for people living in apartments, but it's still possible.

And speaking of possible, I have to say that turning that compost pile was way easier than I thought it would be. Sure, there were some ants crawling around in there, but I figure that the more I turn it, the less likely they are to make a home in there. Plus, the hotter the pile gets, the better it is for breaking down the organic matter.

So, there you have it - my first foray into composting. It may not be perfect, but it's a start. And, hey, if I can do it, literally anyone can.
